We needed to install about 800 square feet of flooring up in the studio space with the attached bedroom and balcony.

The flooring under our plywood planks is light colored plywood. Each sheet of plywood is 32 sqft 4 8 32 so we divided 1500 by 32 and got roughly 47 sheets. Let it dry completely usually an hour or two. I figured we might need to buy a few extra just in case we needed to cut away knots or i screwed up some cuts or whatever so we brought home 50 sheets.

Mix floor paint using two parts white or off white chalk paint two parts water and one part light grey paint optional and paint it on the floor with a brush stirring frequently. Along with the glue i used 18 gauge brads to hold it tight down to the sub floor. It really took all that nasty yellow rough plywood y looking surface off the planks and transformed them into wide pine boards. At less than 18 per sheet my price per square foot came in at about 50 cents which is complete insanity.

This step takes time and is a lot of work but trust me it is so worth it to put in the extra effort here. The strips are laid tight to each other and are actually glued down to the sub floor using polyurethane construction adhesive.
