Ps4 Standing Up Without Stand

There are vents in the sides both sides.

40 votes 115 comments. Considering the vents are on the side of the console. Put the shiny side up for the intended orientation. I might have to stand one of my consoles vertically soon due to a lack of shelf space.

In the past i ve had issues with discs being scratched when standing a system vetically. It would also be safer to buy the stand to lessen the chances of it being knocked over. I personally have never done that with any of my playstation consoles. Yes if you stand it vertically there is still a bit of airflow but not as good as if you stood it horizontally or with the stand the stand has vents.

With that said i believe that one side of the ps4 has little feet that are intended to be used if you decide to stand it up. Ya maybe get one of those stand deals for it. My ps3 had been vertical for 5 6 years since getting it on its stand but now with a new medi centre unit my ps3 is lying flat my ps4 has been flat since getting it. I ve heard conflicting reports about it.
